Cleaning / Maintaining Your Royal Enfield Bullet

WASHING

Wash every week (take it to a water center when there too much hard mud so that pressure cleaning can be done, ensure he does NOT directly spray on the bike...ask him to use his finger so that spray is not direct the water should flow like a garden spray).

diesel power plant

Lets discuss about diesel power plants in this post.

Applications of diesel power plant

  1. Diesel power plant’s is in the range of 2 to 50 MW capacity. They are used as central station for small or medium power supplies.

Geo-Thermal Power Plant

Geo-Thermal Power Plant

It is also a thermal power plant, but the steam required for power generation is available naturally in some part of the earth below the earth surface. According to various theories earth has a molten core. The fact that volcanic action takes place in many places on the surface of earth supports these theories.

Hydro-electric power plant

Hydro-electric power plant

Working principle:

Hydro-electric power plant utilizes the potential energy of water stored in a dam built across the river. The potential energy of the water is used to run water turbine to which the electric generator is coupled. The mechanical energy available at the shaft of the turbine is converted into electrical energy by means of the generator.

nuclear power plant

Working Principle:

A nuclear power plant differs from a conventional steam power plant only in the steam generating part. There is no change in the turbo-alternator and the condensing system.

Solar Power Plant

Solar Power Plant

Basic principle of solar energy:

The sun gives out 3.7*10 ^20 MW of energy into space, out of which earth intercepts one 1.7*10^11 MW. Solar radiation is reduced in intensity in the atmosphere by clouds, dust, haze, and fog. The energy emitted by the sun in three minutes is equivalent to the world energy consumption during a year. Most of the energy we receive from the sun comes in the form of light, a short wave radiation, not all of which is visible to human eye. When this radiation strikes a solid or liquid, it is absorbed and transformed into heat energy.

Steam (Thermal) power Plant

Steam (Thermal) power Plant

A steam power plant, also known as thermal power plant, is using steam as working fluid. Steam is produced in a boiler using coal as fuel and is used to drive the prime mover, namely, the steam turbine. In the steam turbine, heat energy is converted into mechanical energy which is used for generating electric power. Generator is an electro-magnetic device which makes the power available in the form of electrical energy.

Layout of steam power plant:

The layout of the steam power plant is shown in figure below. It consists of four main circuits. These are:

  • Coal and ash circuit.
  • Air and flue gas circuit
  • Water and steam circuit and
  • Cooling water circuit

Tidal power generation

Tidal power generation

Principle of Tidal power generation:
Tide or wave is periodic rise and fall of water level of the sea. Tides occur due to the attraction of sea water by the moon. Tides contain large amount of potential energy which is used for power generation. When the water is above the mean sea level, it is called flood tide. When water level is below the mean level it is called ebb tide.

Working of Tidal power generation:
The arrangement of this system is shown in image. The ocean tides rise and fall and water can be stored during the rise period and it can be discharged during fall. A dam is constructed separating the tidal basin from the sea and a difference in water level is obtained between the basin and sea.

During high tide period, water flows from the sea into the tidal basin through the water turbine. The height of tide is above the tidal basin. Hence the turbine unit operates and generates power, as it is directly coupled to a generator.

WIND POWER PLANT

WIND POWER PLANT
The primitive man had to use his muscle power to carry out different works in his attempt of obtaining the necessities of life. The demand for more power and the scarcity of man power and the ready availability of natural resources like wind, water, etc., might have formed the reason why the ancient man turned his attention to the utilization of these resources as sources of power; thus originated the early prime movers namely wind mill and water wheel.

How ABS(Anti-lock Braking system) works

Since most cars on the road today have some form of Antilock Brakes (ABS) I think we should take a look at how they work and clear up some mis-information about them.

As always, what I describe here is how most systems work in general. Since different manufacturers have their own versions of ABS their specifications and part names may differ. If you're having a problem with the ABS on your vehicle you should always refer to the specific service and repair manuals for your vehicle.
The ABS is a four-wheel system that prevents wheel lock-up by automatically modulating the brake pressure during an emergency stop. By preventing the wheels from locking, it enables the driver to maintain steering control and to stop in the shortest possible distance under most conditions. During normal braking, the ABS and non-ABS brake pedal feel will be the same. During ABS operation, a pulsation can be felt in the brake pedal, accompanied by a fall and then rise in brake pedal height and a clicking sound.
Vehicles with ABS are equipped with a pedal-actuated, dual-brake system. The basic hydraulic braking system consists of the following:
  • ABS hydraulic control valves and electronic control unit
  • Brake master cylinder
  • Necessary brake tubes and hoses
